Yes, I've been teaching eighth-grade since Bill Clinton's first term as President. Yes, I am still inspired by the creativity, intelligence, and randomness of fourteen-year old students. And, yes, it's all true: I love my alma mater (Go Wolverines!), the cliche cup of Starbucks Pumpkin-Spice Latte, memories of my mom, the perfect basketball play, YA novels, and my most wonderful daughters. My overflowing blessings include dark chocolate, freshly-sharpened pencils, advice from my dad, laughter with friends, the talents of Lin-Manuel Miranda, a sunny autumn day, travelling adventures, and the technology that allows me to wear contact lenses in lieu of the large and thick glasses that I rocked in the 1980s.
